Hand goal checkbox missing in Duik 16?

Hi there,

I was just wondering where the checkbox for the hand goal to automatically follow the arm has gone from previous versions of Duik in version 16? As I can't seem to find it in any of the panels for the controller?

Thanks,

Dan.

Hi,

This checkbox was removed, as the "Enable IK" option in the effect of the IK is already connected to the "goal" behaviour of the hand.

After a lot of tests, we came to the conclusion that the goal was needed only in IK and not needed in FK, so the easier way to (de)activate it was to link it to the IK button too.

Anyway, if you need to disable it but keep the IK active, you just have to add a Null object onto the end of the structure and link it to the forearm. Then, link the hand to this null object.
To control the rotation with the controller, you can also add an small expression in the null's rotation:

Code: Select all

value + pickWhipToTheControllerRotation

Hello
I'm also struggling with rotating the hand.
I have a settings of a characters with just two pieces - the upper arm and lower arm (with the palm connected to it).
I used "custom stacture" and the rig works good, but I don't have any control of the rotation of the lower arm.

I tried to follow your instructions above but wasn't able to figure it out exactly.
I am able to control the rotation with the controller, but then when I rotated it - the controller is no longer placed on the hand, and then controllering it isn't intuitive at all and is really messy.

Can you please advise?
Thank you

WHAT? you really took that out? that was really useful! I have to say its very awkward to have to ad an expression and a null to do what used to work with just a tick. It was really useful for animation. Im really sorry that this is no longer there.
