DUIK tutorial Whome/jaw movement

Post by GMardelli » Sat Jul 18, 2020 2:38 am

Hi ! ,

I am at the mouth rigging/opacity connector part of the DUIK tutorial on Whome.... I know you have created 3 separate faces and connected their opacities to the mouth columns HOWEVER if I wanted to could I simply Bezier Warp the face or the jaw part of the face and connect that to a slider to make the face long or short and just manually control it that way? Essentially could I use the same idea for the head turns and do that for the lengthening of the face when doing my lip synch animation?

PS thank you for the tutorial book I recently received in the mail and for all your hard work !

Hi George,

That's indeed a good idea and another nice way to use the connector with faces. In this specific example I did not want to distort the pixels, but you can achieve great results with Bezier warp, or liquify ot other distort effects. It works the same way, except you can have everything on a single layer with keyframes

Have a look at the trailer of Metropia on youtube, where the faces were rigged this way (but without Duik as it did not exist yet), and the result is great.
