Walk cycle distorts character rig

Please can someone give me a solution or a reason why this is happening.
I rig up my character according to the tutorial I have purchased and tested the movement with the controls and all seems fine but when I activate the walk cycle it distorts my character. Here is the before and after when the walk cycle is attached to the character.

Try adjusting the secondary controls in the walk cycle. Things like arm swing and softness might do the trick. Also, where do you have your arm structures parented?

After the walk cycle creation, you can still adjust all controllers too. Don't forget the arms are set to FK
